Floods

Flood hazards often result from severe thunderstorms, seasonal rains, and other weather-related conditions, including the remnants of a hurricane.

Areas in proximity to rivers or lakes are often at the greatest risk of flooding when the flow of rainwater is greater than the carrying capacity of natural drainage systems. Even if the flood water you encounter is below your knees, you need to be extremely cautious.

Flood watches and flood warnings from the National Weather Service should be taken seriously.
